At that time, an alert will be sent to each signatory and pertinent information on each campaign will be posted in this space.

Re-examining Fluoridation - Part 2

Contacting Members of Congress

Recently, a scandal has erupted involving suppression of a rigorous Harvard doctoral study showing strong evidence of bone cancer in young men after earlier exposure to water fluoridation. Additionally, the Harvard professor who was the advisor for this doctoral student and who also serves as editor of a newsletter put out by fluoride toothpaste manufacturer Colgate-Palmolive, has been accused by a respected Washington watchdog organization, the Environmental Working Group (EWG), of covering up these findings.

As a result of these revelations, the union of professionals at EPA headquarters in Washington, D.C. is once again calling for both a moratorium on the practice of water fluoridation, and a full Congressional investigation of the public policy. This time, a total of eleven EPA union chapters, representing the majority of EPA union members across the country, have signed on to this demand. These unions are also asking EPA administrator Stephen Johnson to reduce the Maximum Contaminant Level Goal for fluoride in drinking water from 4 parts per million to zero, based on the evidence of fluoride’s carcinogenicity. Signing the Statement of Concern on Fluoridation

(for Professionals and Organizations)

The Statement of Concern on Fluoridation, circulated by the national nonprofit organization, Second Look, is strategically designed to counter credibility issues that have persisted for many years with any questioning of or opposition to the public policy of water fluoridation. Mainstream professionals with higher degrees, and mainstream (not “anti-fluoride”) organizations, all signing the same document, make a powerful statement and can’t be dismissed as “misinformed” or “fringe”.

The POWA petition was created to complement the Statement of Concern, which has been circulating for a few years. The SoC is a different, but important approach to the same end – a Congressional investigation. We think that diversity is a good thing in this quest, and so we strongly encourage professionals and non-fluoride organizations to sign this Statement.
